Body Mud Mask
Is it safe to ride???????????
My barn is basically located in a swampy area (right next to the Mississippi on flat ground) so it “floods” a lot in the pasture area…and the bugs get horrible!! Well I was wondering is it okay to ride with a fly mask on when outside? In the indoor the flies/mosquitos are not bad but in the outdoor they make riding miserable…I have sadly had to end rides within the first five minutes and go inside because both my horse and I get eaten alive!

Is it okay to ride with this on him? His body doesn’t get many bugs on him outdoors but his face gets COVERED!!! He tried to roll with the saddle on once just to cover himself in mud so they would leave him alone lol
Just so we’re clear I only ride Western Pleasure lol
I have the same one for my gelding, just for wearing in the field. I wouldn’t say it’s the absolute best to ride in (as it’s not meant to be ridden in), but if you in daylight and not real dangerous areas I’m sure it would suffice for a while. Cashel has a fly mask that is actually made to be used when riding: http://www.cashelcompany.com/productdetails.aspx?C=1&SC=4&ProductID=9570. There’s several different options too. Ears vs. no ears. Long nose vs. regular etc… just a suggestion.
